AE 240 Blockbuster Project

How ya doin'?

I hope you've all been working on the track.  So far, TOY has given me a MIDI file, drums and keys.  Here's what I did with that and Karl's guitar parts.

LDR / Blockbuster AE240 test

Below you will find all of the files necessary for "The Project," including the original song, the 60-second version and a "mono" version with the disappearing opening line.

  • Determine who will sing the song and in what key.  A MIDI file is provided for that purpose. Lyrics and alternate-artist versions are provided for fun and reference.
  • Determine who will play the parts.
  • Confirm Tempo and Time Signature: It is approximately 90-bpm, according to the MIDI file.  I experimented with temp to try to match the recording, which was not cut to click (surprise).  Obviously the goal is to have a one-minute spot.  Better to be just under a minute.
  • Dump original to two-tack and edit.  The only tough edit is the tag "Looking for the Sunshine" as it requires a cross-fade.  You may notice a slight pitch change after that - the guitars echo-ing into the fade.  This was taken from an analog tape copy of the album to which I had added echo, circa 1971.  The song actually ends abruptly when purchased a la carte.  The guitar "ending" is actually the intro to the next song.  This "modification" should either be written into the MIDI file or at least have a click continue for reference.
  • Press the button, commence the cuttin'

Lyrics

Long distance runaround
Long time waiting to feel the sound
I still remember the dream there
I still remember the time you said goodbye
Did we really tell lies
Letting in the sunshine
Did we really count to one hundred

Cold summer glistening
Hot colour melting the anger to stone
I still remember the dream there
I still remember the time you said goodbye
Did we really tell lies
Did we really count to one hundred
